In this role, the successful candidate Position Summary:An expert member of the perinatal health care team who is knowledgeable, skilled and experienced in lactation and breastfeeding management. Coordinates and provides education, assistance and support to breastfeeding women and infants.Participates in the development, implementation and reinforcement of evidence-base care through programs and projects which achieve departmental goals in accordance to breastfeeding regulatory/professional standards and public health initiatives .
Job Responsibilities:
Assures compliance with standards and regulations promulgated by all applicable agencies.- Implements and evaluates quality and performance projects to promote and support breast feeding.
- Participates in clinical studies and research projects as applicable.
- Applies findings from evidence based practice and research that support lactating mothers and/or their breastfeeding babies.
- Participates as a member of the Maternal and Child Services Quality and PerformanceImprovement Councils and other committees as needed.
- Assures compliance with standards and regulation promulgated by all applicable agencies
- Provides orientation and ongoing staff development programs related to breastfeeding.
- Educates parents on all aspects of infant feeding
- Serves as a support and resource for the education of other health professionals
- Promotes own professional growth and development.
- Collects, analyze and submits breastfeeding data in accordance to regulatory/professional standard and public health initiatives.
- Promotes a culture that is supportive of breastfeeding mothers and infant, and acts an advocate for the breastfeeding dyad.
- Coordinates breastfeeding program, including maintenance of the warm line.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the organizations Service Standards and incorporates them into performance responsibilities.
- Functions as a respectful member of the health care team.
- Participates in the management of the Breast Pump Rental and Supply Program.
- Educates parents on all aspects of infant feeding.
- Serves as a support and resource for the education of other health professionals.
- Promotes own professional growth and development.
- Applies research findings that support lactating mothers and/or their breastfeeding babies.
- Participates as a member of the Maternal and Child Services Quality and Performance Improvement Councils.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Minimum Qualifications:Education: Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree.Current Certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (I.B.L.C.E.).Minimum of five years lactation consultant experience.Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills and creative problem solving ability..

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $60.00 - $60.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
