Pay Range

$5,380- $7,372 Monthly

Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.

Job Description

We have an opening for a DTED Hiring & Onboarding Academic Graduate Appointee. You will provide administrative onboarding support to the Hiring & Onboarding Team within the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED). This role involves developing, implementing, and documenting sustainable onboarding processes for newly hired employees. In addition, this role will also contribute to building and maintaining web content for the division website for internal employees. This position is in DTED supporting the Weapons and Complex Integration (WCI) Principal Directorate.

In this role you will

Work alongside the DTED Hiring & Onboarding Team to provide support to new employees and summer interns and facilitate onboarding process development.
Identify and drive efficiency in onboarding processes by making recommendations, developing process improvement strategies, and documenting results.
Propose and implement comprehensive communication strategy to strengthen new hire adjustment and engagement.
Design written and multimedia publications ensuring language, style, and messaging are consistent with the division quality and branding.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and implement solutions to cross-departmental onboarding needs.
Contribute to various projects and activities, such as setting up and hosting internal and external interviews and Summer Seminars.
Develop, design, and build division webpages.
Collaborate with administrative staff, scholars, and the scholar administrative team to gather and relay information regarding the end of summer scholar presentations, in addition to hosting the DTED portion.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, Web Design, or related field.
Ability to apply basic organizational and communication principles to understand related problems.
Experience working with personal computers and familiarity with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Sufficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment, and prepare, present, and explain information.
Strong initiative, interpersonal skills, creativity, and ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
Ability to multitask, provide administrative support, and handle multiple projects with competing needs in a fast-paced environment.

Position Information

This is a one-year Academic Graduate Appointee, open to those who have been awarded a degree at the time of the employment offer.

Security Clearance

This position requires either no security clearance, or a Department of Energy (DOE) L-level or Q-level clearance depending on the particular assignment.

If you are selected and a security clearance is required, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. L and Q-level clearances require U.S. citizenship.

If no security clearance is required, but your assignment is longer than 179 days cumulatively within a calendar year, you must go through the Personal Identity Verification process. This process includes completing an online background investigation form and receiving approval of the background check. (This process does not apply to foreign nationals.)

Pre-Employment Drug Test

External applicant(s) selected for this position must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.
