ABOUT THIS ROLE:
This position is a permanent Part-Time evening position. The schedule is Monday thru Friday 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Custodian position performs routine custodial work in the care and cleaning of al County buildings; and simi-skilled custodial and heavy manual labor.
Some knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies, chemicals, and equipment; some knowledge of safety and effective use of chemicals; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; ability to get along well with others.

Custodian Duties include the following:

  • Sweeps, mops, waxes, and uses buffers on floors.
  • Vacuums carpet, sweeps, damp, and dust mops tile floors; strips and waxes tile floors.
  • Operates carpet shampooers and light automotive equipment.
  • Operates vacuum, vacuuming carpets and cleaning upholstered furniture.
  • Closes and locks building after late meetings.
  • Loads and unloads cleaning and polishing equipment and materials to be transported by truck.
  • Prepares quantities of cleaning and polishing materials appropriate for use from bulk containers.
  • Washes windows, walls, woodwork, and venetian blinds.
  • Tends surrounding walks and grounds, including cutting grass, trimming shrubbery, shoveling snow and related work.
  • Moves furniture and files and performs related work as required.
  • Prepares supply and inspection reports, daily check lists and problem report lists.
  • Dusts and/or polishes chairs, tables, shelves and other furniture or equipment.
  • Gathers and disposes of refuse.
  • Locks and unlocks buildings.

PREFERENCES: The successful candidate will have…
A. Expert knowledge of/experience with floor maintenance techniques, to include equipment used in process. (Floor Scrubbers and buffers as well as extraction machines)
B. Practical experience using a chemical dispensing system
C. Expert knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

20 hours per week – 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM., Monday through Friday.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must pass a pre-employment physical exam.
2. Valid Driver’s License.
3. Background Checks, which may include but are not limited to: Criminal History Check, Credit History Check, Education Verification Check, License Verification Check, and/or Finger printing maybe required (Effective January 3, 2013) as posted in the job advertisement.

ENTRY SALARY RANGE:
$17.55 to $27.43
