Located in beautiful east Tennessee north of Knoxville, Norris Academy is a residential treatment facility for children and youth ages 5 to 21 diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Norris Academy has 31 licensed beds! and serves youth from Tennessee as well as several other states. The Autism Spectrum/Neuro-developmental Disorders Residential Treatment Program at Norris Academy is medically and clinically supervised by a Licensed, Board-Certified Psychiatrist who serves as the Medical Director of the program. Each shift is staffed with a Registered Nurse 24-hours a day.
Position Overview
Norris Academy is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care and management of youth as prescribed by the physician and treatment team on 3rd shift, 7:45 PM - 8:15 AM.
Duties Include:
Provides medical management and assessment as prescribed by a physician.
Provides safety and crisis management for student population.
Administers medication as prescribed by the physician.
Completes nursing assessments/evaluations on all patients.
Job Requirements
This position requires a graduate from an accredited! RN program.
The candidate must possess a valid unres! tricted Registered Nursing License issued by the Tennessee State Board of Nursing.
Minimum of six months to one year mental health nursing experience with a child/youth population is preferred.
Valid TN driver’s license with good driving history.
Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnosis, and intervention with students.
Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side effects.
Ability to safely implement special treatment procedures.
Skill in developing therapeutic relationships with students and their families.
Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
Phlebotomy skills and ability to process lab requisitions.
