Adult Nurse Practitioner position is located in the Emerg! ency Department
(ED) Service at the Memphis VA Medical Center. The position is assigned
responsibility for providing comprehensive, high quality, cost effective
healthcare services and consultation to patients who are rendered care in the
Emergency Service. The Adult Nurse Practitioner is accountable for adhering to
established policies, standard of care, and standards of practice,
demonstrating leadership in a service as a role model.

The Nurse
Practitioner will support for the provision of evidence-based emergency medical
and nursing care to meet individual patient requirements within the Emergency
Department (ED) practice environment. Ensures that patients receive thorough
explanations of any and all diagnostic testing performed during their ED visit.

·
She/he will be identifying
patient medical problems, defining the medical management of medical problems.
Meets productivity and performance me! asures as established by the ED. Completes
documentation a! nd encounters in a timely manner.

·
Determining
consultation needs (i.e. from, medical, surgical, psychiatric subspecialty
etc..). Completes documentation and encounters process in a timely manner.

·
The Nurse
Practitioner identifies patient needs and initiates appropriate referrals after
discharge from ED.

·
Provides
leadership in improving patient care, maintaining standards of care, and
directing and teaching personnel in a variety of settings. Serves as a resource
for all members of the ED staff.

·
Advocates for the
coordination of ED patient care needs both within and outside of the ED,
including all health care teams/members such as physicians, nurses, aides,
Pharmacy, Social Services, Psychology/Psychiatry, Physical Therapy, Dietary and
all other departments.

ALS/BLS Certification is required.

Work Schedule: Various
Rotating Shifts (Specifi! c duty hours to be determined)
