DUTIES:
The Inpatient Psychiatry Section includes a 26 bed inpatient psychiatry unit, the c! onsultation liaison service, the emergency psychiatry service, and psychiatrists embedded within the community living center, the domiciliary, the mental health intensive case management (MHICM) program, and the home based community care program (HBPC).

This is an active teaching program and includes supervision and teaching responsibilities for psychiatry residents, medical students, and a variety of other specialties.

The incumbent will perform general psychiatric assessment and treatment in the inpatient setting composed of psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric social workers, nurse practitioners and psychopharmacologists. The inpatient setting includes an active electroconvulsive therapy program which the incumbent would be expected to participate in (training will be provided as necessary).

The incumbent will work closely with his/her colleagues to provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art inpatient mental health care. Many of these patient! s suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, experience and competence! in treating this condition is desirable. The employee shall work under the direction of the Psychiatry Section Chief. Routine work is performed with a minimum of supervision. Employee will be required to perform duties on their own initiative. The employee shall act in a thoroughly professional manner at all times.

He/she shall work in harmony with other members of the professional and technical staff, tact and courtesy are mandatory when interacting with patients and staff.

Work Schedule:
40 hours per week Monday - Friday 07:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., may include weekends, nights and holidays; tour at the discretion of ACOS Mental Health.

SALARY:
Grade and Salary will be determined by a Professional Standards Board commensurate with education and experience.

Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.

·

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

·

Must be board certified or eligible within 2 years of residency completion.

·

Board certified in psychiatry preferred.
