The position is located in Mental Health in the Community Based Outpatient Clinics Section. KEY REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record DUTIES:
Incumbent will perform as the Chief, Mental Health in the Community Based Outpatient Clinics Section (MH in CBOCs). He/she will provide approximately 95 percent program management services to include: oversight of administrative and programmatic resources and responsibilities for a program that delivers outpatient treatment and related services and interventions including medication management, assessment, case management, psychotherapy, and education for Veterans with a full range of mental health treatment needs. Incumbent will be responsible for directing the activities of multidisciplinary clinical teams comprised of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, advance practice nurses, addiction ! therapists, counselors, and program clerks. Duties include directing, a! dministering, and managing all aspects of the MH in CBOCs section, including comprehensive planning, developing, and implementing programs, policies, and procedures; determining program needs; overseeing short and long range program goals, initiatives, and direction; ensuring CBOC compliance with policies and procedures of the MHCL, Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS), Veterans Integrated Systems Network (VISN), and Federal rules and regulations; ensuring that the CBOCs comply with current performance measures; maintaining high standards through the review and judicious application of evidenced based practices, practice guidelines, and best practices methodology; developing quality management and performance improvement practices, and reporting the results to the Chief, MHCL; and overseeing the completion of any evaluation reports. Incumbent will provide care as a credentialed and privileged Licensed Independent Practitioner who will establish and maintain therapeutic! relationships and exercise professional judgment to provide treatment for Veterans, and will provide approximately 5 percent direct patient care to include direct services to selected patients and/or selected treatment programs; diagnostic interviews, assessments, psychotherapy, and case management to Veterans; provide behavioral expertise, education, and multidisciplinary consultation with primary care staff at all CBOCs in the management of mental health clients; assess the need for referral for additional services of mental health clients; coordinate with providers within MHCL and TVHS when other care such as psychiatric or palliative care is involved; mediation as requested by local, regional, state and Federal agencies and elected representatives; and review and translate research into practical interventions for improved patient outcomes. Incumbent will designate section priorities and objectives and work independent of immediate supervision. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:!
Qualifications:
Citizenship : Citizen of th! e United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when no qualified citizens are available in accordance with regulations issued by the Under Secretary for Health or designee).
Education : Degree of doctor of medicine or equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted, schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted, schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted! licensure.
Licensure : Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the state of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.
Must be board certified or eligible
