About the Memphis VA Medical Center: The VAMC in Memphis, Tennessee consists of one main campus located at 1030 Jefferson Avenue, which includes a sixty-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit, and ten community based outpatient clinics (CBOC). It is a tertiary care facility classified as a Clinical Referral Level I Facility and one of the most complex medical centers in the VA system. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology, as well as extensive education and research programs. Comprehensive primary, secondary, and tertiary health care is provided in areas of medicine, general cardiovascular and neurological surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, neurology, oncolo! gy, dentistry, and geriatrics. Specialized outpatient services are provided through general, specialty, and subspecialty outpatient clinics including a women's health center. Services are available to more than 206,000 Veterans living in a fifty three county tri-state area (Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi).

KEY REQUIREMENTS

U.S. Citizenship
Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required.

English Language Proficiency required. DUTIES:
A RELOCATION OR RECRUITMENT INCENTIVE IS BEING OFFERED FOR THIS POSITION. WHEN AUTHORIZED, INCENTIVE MAY BE PAID UP TO 25% OF BASIC PAY. Incumbent must sign an agreement to remain with the VAMC Memphis for a minimum of two-yea! rs. Permanet Change of Station (PCS) IS authorized.

The VA Med! ical Center Memphis, a level 1A VA facility, is seeking one full-time dermatologist, board certified or board eligible in internal medicine, to care for patients with general dermatologic problems. The dermatologist will have direct patient care responsibilities with primary responsibility being to reduce patient wait times and the 30-day access measures in Dermatology Clinic.

It is anticipated that 60-80 new patients and 30-40 follow-up patients are seen each month. In addition, the dermatologist will provide back-up coverage for the Chief, Dermatology when on approved leave, and s/he will broaden the reach of the Telederm program. The dermatologist will be tasked with educating our primary care physicians on the management of common dermatologic conditions to reduce the number of patients referred to Dermatology Clinic. Incumbents will serve as attending physicians in outpatient and inpatient dermatology teaching services with dermatology house staff from our aff! iliate, and the University of Tennessee.

Working Hours: NEED STATEMENT QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Basic Qualification Requirements :
a. Citizenship - US Citizenship required unless US Citizens are not available . Non-citizens may be appointed when no citizens are available in accordance with regulations issued by the Under Secretary for Health. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) supports the Exchange Visitor Program and the 2-year home residence requirement and seeks waivers only when it is clearly in the interest of the Department and its programs.

b. Education - Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine, and board certifications in Internal Medicine and/or an Internal Medicine subspecialty are required.

c. Licensure and Registration - Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwe! alth of the United States , or in the District of Columbia .

d! . Physical Standards - Applicant must meet the physical standards established for this position.

e. English Language Proficiency - Applicant must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(s) and 7407(d).
