Dean Ornish , M.D., to operate and license his Lifestyle Management Programs. Dr. Ornish's programs, combined with Healthways well-being improvement platform, will enable the Company to comprehensively leverage proven lifestyle behavior change programs that serve the purpose of preventing, treating and reversing certain chronic diseases.
The Ornish program has proven effective against coronary artery disease. Healthways will now train and certify health systems, health plans, hospitals and physician groups, allowing them to deliver programs that can manage and help reverse the progression of chronic diseases.
We are currently recruiting for Site Delivery teams in the following areas:
Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, Baltimore, Maryland, Newark/Milford/Lewes, Delaware, Los Angeles and San Francisco, California, Honolulu, Hawaii, Louisville, Kentucky, New York City, New York, Milford/Summit, New Jersey, Cleveland, Ohio, Nashville, ! Tennessee, Oshkosh/Menasha, Wisconsin, South Bend, Indiana, Sp! ringfield, Illinois, St Louis, Missouri and Tucson/Phoenix, Arizona
The Ornish Program is provided by a collaborative, synergistic, interdisciplinary team. Team members embody key principles of the Program. We are currently recruiting for the following role:
Group Support Facilitator
CLINICAL
- Participates in the screening of candidates and evaluates psychosocial questionnaires to ensure appropriate and successful group participation.
- Facilitates support groups as trained per clinical protocol.
- Provides for individual and couples counseling as necessary.
- Provides support in developing the skills necessary for integrating lifestyle changes into daily life.
- Facilitates high level of participant satisfaction.
- Provides support to staff dealing with difficult situations and difficult participants.
- Attends staff meetings and participant care conferences.
- Participates in the interdisciplinary te! am development of a plan of care for each participant.
- Participates in the monitoring, documentation, and communication of the participantâs response to the interdisciplinary team plan of care throughout the Program.
- Participates in team and network group support facilitator conference calls.
- Ensures patient confidentiality.
- Assists the Program Director in efforts to actively market and promote the Program to prospective participants, health and care professionals in order to meet pre-determined participant enrollment objectives.
- Provides group support marketing opportunities.
- Presents lectures on communication skills, group process, lifestyle change, and stress related topics.
- Provides educational in-services as necessary.
- Facilitates the hiring and training of other group support facilitators.
- Provides outreach to hospital, medical! , or lay community as needed.
- Serves as a role model for all e! lements of the Program.
LICENSE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES
- Psychologist, psychiatrist, social worker, chaplain, or mental health professional with state licensure or state approval, and experience working with groups.
- Ability to facilitate a process of self-expression and active listening in a way that can create connection, community, and intimacy among group participants.
- Ability to model and promote verbalization of feelings, and an empathic listening presence.
- Lack of need to be the center of the group process.
- Experience with cardiac patients or other individuals confronting chronic illness.
- Experience working with the psychosocial issues that may arise when making lifestyle changes.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and public speaking skills.
- Excellent leadership and adult education skills.
- Desire and ability to work in a participative team-oriented e! nvironment.
- Certification in BLS or CPR is required.
