Benewah Community Hospital is a county owned, 19-bed Critical Access Hospital that is governed by a 7-membe! r appointed Board. 19 beds are staffed with an ADC = 4. The hospital's service area = 12,000 with 16 providers on staff and another 5-10 physicians in consulting/courtesy roles. Gross patient revenues = $24 million, net patient revenues = $15 million, with A/R days = 43 (gross) and 34 (net). The hospital has 150 FTE's. Bad debt = 6% of Net Revenue.
For more than 50 years Benewah Community Hospital has been providing high quality healthcare to individuals, families and visitors in St. Maries, Benewah, Shoshone and Kootenai counties. They offer patients a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic services providing high quality care in a rural setting. The Hospital offers tele-psychiatry and chemotherapy as well. They use Meditech 6.0 and met stage 1 meaningful use. The administration and staff are dedicated to providing excellent care.
Benewah Community Hospital is proud to announce the opening of its East Tower, which is part of a $28.5 million renovation a! nd expansion project. The renovations include a new enlarged f! amily practice and specialty practice clinic, new larger patient rooms with private baths, 50 new parking spaces, an expanded emergency department, a more spacious and updated physical therapy department, and more. The expansion provides 54,000 square feet of new space as of April 2012. Renovations of remaining campus scheduled to be completed in February 2013.
Benewah Community Hospital's Emergency Room is fully staffed, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All ER physicians are Board Certified with Advanced Life Support training in trauma, cardiac and pediatrics.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the Hospital. This position is accountable for planning, organizing, and directing the hospital to ensure that quality patient care is provided and that the financial integrity of the hospital is maintained. The CEO ensures compliance with applica! ble laws and regulations as well as all policies and procedures set forth by the Governing Board and Medical Staff, and those required by Medicare Survey Standards.
The CEO is responsible for creating an environment and culture that enables the hospital to fulfill its mission by meeting or exceeding its goals, conveying the hospital mission to all staff, holding staff accountable for their performance, motivating staff to improve performance and being responsible for the measurement, assessment and continuous improvement of the hospital's performance.

Benewah is located in northern Idaho, 1 hour from resort community of Lake Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and 1 hour from metropolitan community of Spokane, WA. St Maries population is 2,500 and the county 9,000. Recreational highlights: Two rivers meet in St. Maries and then join Lake Couer D'Alene. Fly fishing, hunting, bike trails along the lake, boating all in town or within 20 minutes. Major! shopping, broadway shows, nice dining, international airport, all with! in 1 hour. Also, there are 4 ski mountains within 1hr -2.5 hours.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
MHA or MBA.
5 plus years progressive experience in hospital operations as hospital CEO or equivalent.
Strong physician relations and understanding of physician practice management.
Managed care experience, experience and knowledge in quality initiatives.
