Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) is an integrated healthcare system
comprised of Medical Centers, the Alvin C. York Campus in Murfreesboro, TN,
and the Nashville Campus in Nashville, TN, and operates 438 medical,
psychiatric and community-living beds. TVHS also operates several community
based outpatient clinics located in Tennessee and Kentucky. VA-staff clinics
are located in Chattanooga, Clarksville, and Tullahoma, TN. Contract clinics
are located in Cookeville, Dover, McMinnville, Maury County, and Roane County,
TN and Bowling Green and Hopkinsville, Kentucky. In addition three primary
care annex clinics are operated in Nashville, TN. TVHS provides ambulatory
care, primary care, and secondary care in acute medicine and surgery,
specialized tertiary care, transplant services, spinal cord injury, outpatient
care, and a full range of extended care and mental ! health services. The
Nashville Campus is the only VA facil! ity that supports all solid organ
transplant programs, including total in-house kidney and bone marrow
transplants. The Alvin C. York Campus is a network referral center for mental
health services, geriatrics, and extended care. TVHS provides a full range of
specialized medical services.
TVHS has active medical affiliations with two local institutions. The Alvin C.
York Campus is primarily affiliated with Meharry Medical College, with active
residency programs in oral surgery, psychiatry, general internal medicine,
occupational medicine, preventive medicine, geriatric medicine, and family
practice. The Nashville Campus is primarily affiliated with the Vanderbilt
University School of Medicine with active residency programs in all major
medical and surgical specialties and sub-specialties. TVHS also has two local
AFGE union partners.

**This position will be required to work and travel between Nashville, Murfreesboro and all satellite locations for TVHS.**
The Chief of Staff (COS) provides administrative, programmatic, and clinical
leadership for the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System clinical, medical,
and dental staff to ensure achievement of the clinica! l, research, and
education goals of the medical center. The COS is ! accountable for the
management of the needs of the clinical services, as well as developing a plan
for the delivery of health care by the clinical staff. The COS, as a member of
the executive leadership team for the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System,
participates in top-level decision and policy design that affects the needs of
the medical center through collaboration with other members of the medical
center administration, service chiefs, and interdepartmental supervisors. The
COS directs the clinical medical programs, delegating authority and
responsibility to meet the medical center goals. The incumbent reports to the
Medical Center Director and serves as a key clinical resource for the Medical
Center Director and other members of the administration.
