DUTIES:
The Primary Care Clinic at the
James H. Quillen VAMC provides for veterans in Northeast Tennesse! e, Southwest
Virginia and Southeast Kentucky. This is prov! ided through a network of
community-based primary care clinics belonging to James H. Quillen VA Medical
Center in Mountain Home (Johnson City), TN. The Primary Care Clinics provides
primary medical, psychiatry, optometry, laboratory, radiology and other
services for veterans in the servicing area. Primary Care Providers are responsible for all
aspects of the patients' care, making referrals to specialists, ordering
procedures, ordering and monitoring all medications plus handling all their
patients' acute needs. The CMO also supervises clinical operations of CBOCs in Bristol
TN. and Norton VA. There are also OPCâs in Vansant and Marion Va. The DCMO will
be required to travel to these clinics on an as-needed basis to maintain
appropriate oversight of clinical operations and communication with staff.
The Deputy Chief Medical Officer
at Mountain Home will play a key role in assisting the CMO with day-to-day
operation o! f the Primary Care Clinic and serve as the acting CMO in their
absence.
The required skill set includes
current clinical Primary Care proficiency, Board Certification in either Family
Medicine or Internal Medicine, willingness and ability to lead and encourage
teamwork, and to enforce high standards of performance. A broad working
knowledge of and experience with VA policies and procedures is highly
desirable.
The Deputy Chief Medical Officer
and Primary Care Physician will provide clinical care for a patient panel sized appropriately
to allow adequate time for leadership and administrative duties.
Work Schedule: Generally administrative, 7:45 to 4:30, Monday thru Friday (some clinic hours may be extended as needed)
SALARY: Grade and Salary will be determined by
a Professional Standards Board commensurate with education and experience.
Relocation Expenses: Relocation expens! es are not authorized for this
position.

- Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required.
- Must pass pre-employment examination.
- Designated and/or Random Drug Testing required.
- Background and/or Security Investigation required.
- English Language Proficiency required.
- U.S. Citizenship (Non-citizens may be appointed
citizens)
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent
medicine or
osteopathic medicine.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice
Commonwealth
of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Must be board certified
