The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a licensed mental health professional to serve as a Mental Health Clinician II in a school-based program. The Clinician will operate within an assigned school in conjunction with Fellows, Nurse Practitioners, and school personnel.

This position will provide individual, family and group therapy in an outpatient setting to children, adolescents and their families. This position will also provide diagnostic assessment and therapeutic treatment, sometimes involving crisis intervention. In addition, this position will serve as a liaison between patients and community agencies.

Key Functions and Expected Performances:

  • Clinical Practice - Under the guidance of senior staff or supervisors, the clinician will provide clinical service to patients which demonstrate competence in the following areas:
  • Conducts clinical assessments demonstrating diagnostic abilities
  • Plans and implements treatment
  • Complies with agency standards for documentation of notes, treatment plans, Clinically Related Groups/Tennessee Priority Groups and billing
  • Attends required meetings
  • Maintain contact with family members and other agencies as appropriate
  • Communicate with referral sources routinely, as appropriate
  • Collaborates with team members including prescribers, case managers and research team as appropriate
  • Productivity - maintain productivity at 100%
  • Maintain productivity as assigned
  • Professional Growth and Development - Under the guidance of senior staff or supervisors, the clinician will participate in clinical supervision and maintain the required learning competencies ?Participates in clinical supervision as assigned.
  • Attends professional meetings
  • Obtains information about organizations and/or community resources as appropriate
  • Identifies and participates in resolving problems in conjunction with supervisors
  • Attends in-services, training activities as appropriate
  • Completes learning objectives
  • Education and Research- Clinician will participate in educational opportunities internal and external to the Medical Center ?Attends educational events provided within the Mental Health Center, the department and off campus as appropriate.
  • Reads and applies professional research literature to clinical services and related assignments
  • Applies evidenced based clinical practices
  • Participates in projects contributing to quality assurance and improving clinical services within the program or center
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, salaried position on a partial year schedule [10 months]. Expected schedule is Monday - Friday; specific hours will depend on school assignment.

Salary is commensurate upon years of education and experience.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
This position requires a Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field of study, and one year of mental health experience. LPC or LCSW required; eligibility to supervise is preferred.

Experience working with children, adolescents, and underserved populations is preferred. School-based experience is a plus. Strong computer skills helpful.
