Center of Excellence for Children in State Custody
and the
Department of Psychiatry
are seeking an experienced mental health professional to serve in the Knoxville area as a Mental Health Consultant.
The Mental Health Consultant will consult with State agency to assess and review clinical and placement needs of children and adolescents in the custody of the
Tennessee Department of Children's Services
(DCS).
The duties of the position include performing case reviews, providing training to providers, consulting with the appropriate Child and Family Team, and project management.
Position Highlights:
Opportunity to apply clinical knowledge and skills as a subject matter expert; guiding and training other clinicians and staff.
Serves within a statewide team of experts, yet will function independently.
Allows for application of clinical expertise without a direct patient care assignment.
Key Functions and Expected Performances:
Performs Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS)Case Reviews
Conduct quality reviews of assigned number of cases
Conduct reviews within protocol timeframes
Provide training and maintian appropriate documentation.
Maintain all initial certification for the Region
Maintain all re-certification for the Region
Maintain Training Database for the Region
Maintain submission of ROLS request for DCS staff
Work with Providers to promote knowledge around CANS
Consultation
Provide consultation when requested at the CFT (Child and Family Team meeting)
Provide consultation to regional leadership utilizing CANS data
Provide consultation to Family Service Worker (FSW) on interpretation of the CANS when requested
Consult with Providers in concert with the FSW, to help inform best practice around the strengths and needs of a youth
Project Management
Provide monthly reports in timely fashion
Implement trainings in the regions that focus of supervision and integration of tools used for best quality casework
Continuous monitoring through QI or CQI for project improvements
Additional Information:
This is a full-time position, salaried position. Travel will be required in Knoxville and surrounding areas - with occasional travel to Vanderbilt campus; must have reliable transportation and ability to complete travel as assigned.
Salary is commensurate upon years of education and experience.
Background screens including MVR review will be performed and education will be verified prior to employment. Please be prepared to provide required information and/or documentation.
Basic Qualifications
Job requires Masters and 3 years of experience or the equivalent.
Experience within the DCS system or other child-serving systems is preferred.
Valid licensure is preferred [ LPC, LCSW, or LMFT ].
